Day of the Book a Success at Abiquiu Library

Thanks to all the writers for Day of the Book whose readings and donations of signed books made our fundraiser a success. Thank you to writers Napoleon Garcia, Joan Logghe, Pamela Smith, Sabra Moore, David Lopez, Karen Kerschen, Don Usner and Robert Torres. A special thanks also to Iren Schio for making expressive paper flowers and to Dexter Trujillo who fed the library and its patrons with his delicious bizcochitos.

We are happy to announce that Santa Fe Community Foundation has given all four RAIL libraries a grant for operating expenses. Their funding and support is especially appreciated in these lean times for libraries.

A gracious thank you to Jo A. Douglas for a financial contribution to our Library and Cultural Center. Also, a very gracious thank you to Julia Booz Cooper, Patrick Laughlin and Sam for their generosity and considerate support; to Jacqueline Malegni for volunteering help with bar coding for the automation process of our collection; to those who have paid for subscriptions like High County News and other magazines; appreciation to David Salazar, Director, Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association, Inc. for support to rural library needs. Other support also acknowledged: $2,850 from state aid and $250 received from Tri-Star.

New year subscriptions are needed, as are sponsors for Family Tree genealogy software at $20 a month. There are parents in need of volunteer tutors for youth, especially in math. The library can be made available for meeting space.
