Free Children’s Summer Program at Abiquiu LIbrary

One World/ Many Stories, every Tuesday and Thursday from  10 a.m. to noon, starting June 7th through August 11th. Read stories, plant a garden, keep a garden journal, make art with special guests, identify bugs and flowers, have an Internet pen pal in Alabama, win prizes for reading books & more! It’s free! Call Rachel at the library at 685-4884 to sign up.

We received 61 new books with a value of over $1,000 which represents books for preschool through teen years containing a variety of information on the alphabet, animals, biographies, and just stories to read for the fun of it. The summer reading program focuses on native vegetables and there’s also a correspondence via Skype with a sister library in Gadsden to discuss both of our programs.

Summer Reading Program participants have already made contact with the Alabama library. They have introduced themselves, talked about foods and other subjects. Our young people made tortillas and started a compost bin.

The Book Cart in the portal of the library is always full and changing with new books donated by visitors and friends. Every book you purchase helps fund our library’s programming.
