Preserve our Local History

Preserve our Local History

-Thanks to a grant from New Mexico State Archives, the library is in the process of digitizing some historic spiritual journals and family photos from Abiquiu Pueblo, to ensure the preservation of our history for future generations. If any Abiquenos have family photos, including wedding photos, family celebrations, fiestas, people working in their gardens or riding on horseback or any other images that show life in the village from an earlier period, we would like to help preserve your family’s history. The donor would keep all the original photos; the library would simply make digital copies and add the images to our digital archive. You could help by identifying the people in the pictures or adding stories. Call the library to arrange an appointment with one of the team of volunteers working on creating this archival record of Abiquiu’s history.

Summer Youth Program

-Pueblo de Abiquiu Library is already making plans for our summer reading / art/ gardening program for students on the theme of Dig into Reading.

The schedule will be announced next month.

Come and browse and check out books. We have a great selection of books- novels, mysteries, Southwest history, art, how to crafts, non-fiction. We are always adding and updating our books. The librarian often displays new selections at her entry desk.

Volunteers Needed

If you want to volunteer to help with our summer reading program or volunteer as a homework

doctor or help organize our book shed or have good ideas for fundraisers, we welcome

and need volunteers. Come join us

Thank you

A great big Thank you for Ms. Victoria Morales for volunteering to help our Center on a weekly basis, and for her hard work in putting

our books for sale on  It is very much appreciated.

Also, thanks to Joshua Salazar for his hard work in cleaning our back yard.

David Fant has been coming to our Library every Sunday to see if there is anyone to take advantage of his free tutoring services for Math.

Please keep him in mind each Sunday and make use of this very giving offer of his time to assist anyone in Math before the school year ends!
